In 2005 a dream began when four ladies decided the sleepy little town of Dexter, KS needed a eating establishment and "Gathering Place".

As this decision was made, one of the few remaining historic buildings in Dexter became available.  They wasted no time in purchasing the building, and thus began the process of building "The Gathering Place".

The Gathering Place
is the only building in Dexter with a hand painted mural. This mural depicts the history of Dexter, which includes the discovery of helium.

On Sunday, we prove you can go home again, by enjoying the same type of meal your grandparents loved. From noon to 2PM every Sunday a homemade, classic, delightful meal is served. Some samples of our Sunday dinners we have served are,  chicken-n-noodles, roast beef, brisket, pork loin, meatloaf, ham, and baked chicken. All of the Sunday meals come with real mashed potatoes (not instant), and gravy, vegetable, salad, hot roll, drink for one low price. We never know what we are going to have until we see what is in the pantry and what we are hungry for!
In 2007 the Backdoor Garden Room was added to allow our guests to enjoy the beautiful changing seasons in the Grouse Creek Valley.

The Backdoor Garden Room has been the site for two garden parties. A special meal is served, and informative speakers entertain our guests with their wit and humor as they educate us about garden themes such as, wildflowers, tole painting on watering cans, rocks, or anything not of use in the garden any longer, and garden secrets for a successful garden.

The Backdoor Garden Room is available to rent for small intimate weddings and receptions, family reunions, anniversary and birthday celebrations.
Some of our regular menu items are;
Hot Cheesey Mama (hot toasted sandwich)
Hot pepperoni sandwich
Chicken Salad Sandwich
Turkey Club
The Riley (hot ham & turkey with special seasonsing)
Ham & Cheese
Chef Salad
Chicken Chef Salad
Roast Beef Wrap
Chicken Wrap
Every Friday & Saturday we serve a daily special. Don't know what it will be until we see what we are hungry for!!
These ladies are the winners of door prizes at our first garden party in the summer of 2007.
